Battery Pack Sizing Internship – Extract 2026

By Hiring3 min read

Kurybees is an independent R&D studio, consisting of a testing laboratory, an IT department, and a consulting division, specialized in modeling and designing high-performance, sustainable battery solutions.

Our vision: battery sustainability must be at the heart of the electric transition.
Our mission: reconcile performance and longevity by helping our clients design innovative and reliable battery systems four times faster, using our digital tools and experimental testing.
Our promise: Kurybees is your technical co-pilot—the expert guiding you to make the best decisions based on your goals.

Kurybees: Powering durability with batteries.

Why this internship is educational

You will learn, in real-world conditions, how to size a battery while taking into account the strong coupling between:

  • Electrical behavior (voltage, power, state of charge, internal resistance)
  • Thermal behavior (self-heating, temperature limits)
  • Aging (calendar & cycling, end of life)

All of this will be applied directly to a variety of use cases: drill, electric scooter, e-bike, and electric scooter.

Internship Objective

Contribute to the improvement and enhancement of an industrial-use-oriented electro-thermal-aging Excel model, and develop a battery pack sizing module ready for client demonstration.

The three main focus areas:

  1. Optimize and stabilize the existing model (structure, stability, usability, visualization).
  2. Develop a multi-application module (e-bike, e-scooter, lighting, ESS, etc.) integrating our measurements and real constraints (dimensions, weight, power, energy, lifespan).
  3. Leverage and showcase the model through case studies, one-page summary sheets, a user manual, and product development recommendations.

Work to Be Carried Out (Summary)

  • Audit, correction, and improvement of the existing model
  • Development of a calculation and sizing module in Excel based on our internal rules
  • Conducting concrete application studies to illustrate the model’s results
  • Debugging, documentation, and preparation of the user manual and validation guide

Required Skills

Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy, Applied Physics, or Modeling (equivalent to Bac+5).

Technical skills:

  • Excellent command of Microsoft Excel (formulas, VBA/macros, automation, charts)
  • Solid fundamentals in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of Li-ion batteries (characteristics, aging) is desirable
  • Basics of thermal and electrical modeling
  • (Optional) Experience with Matlab/Python for post-processing

Personal qualities:

  • Rigor and autonomy
  • Scientific curiosity
  • Analytical mindset
  • Clear communication skills

Expected Deliverables

  • Improved and validated version of the Excel model
  • Operational sizing module
  • Demonstrative application studies
  • User manual and validation guide

Expected Deliverables

  • Duration: 5 to 6 months
  • Location: Écquevilly (78), partial remote work possible
  • Supervision: Kurybees R&D team
  • Compensation: according to profile and school/Syntec guidelines
